Restoring natural processes to recover nature at a landscape scale
David Brown
David has worked for the National Trust as senior ecologist for their Purbeck Estate since 2012. He leads the Trust’s work to build nature recovery partnerships across the wider Purbeck landscape, was instrumental in setting up the UKs first ‘super-NNR’ in the Purbeck Heaths in 2020, and now leads on monitoring across the NNR. Earlier in his career, David spent 10 working as an ecologist in Galicia, NW Spain – this was an inspiration that re-set his understanding of nature conservation and emphasised the need to think at scale and work with natural processes to create larger, wilder and more dynamic landscapes.
