Speakers Panel

Panel Q&A

An opportunity to tap into our speaker’s expertise and their thoughts and ideas to restore nature

This session will be led by Kate Fox, who will Chair the afternoon session

Growing up with the Dorset countryside as her playground, Kate was inspired by the nature around her to pursue a career in wildlife conservation. She enjoys contributing to citizen science and sharing the natural world with others, such as through bird ringing and her former role as BTO Youth Representative. After graduating in Zoology, she spent time volunteering at Bardsey and Spurn Bird Observatories, before starting work as a Training Officer for the BTO. Most recently, she has been working as an Assistant Warden at Bardsey Bird Observatory, monitoring bird migration and the amazing seabirds which call the island home.

The Panel of all of today's speakers will also be joined by Ian Alexander, who will chair the morning session.

Ian is an ecologist who has spent over 40 years working in wildlife conservation for a variety of organisations in the voluntary and public sector, mostly in Dorset.  In the noughties he led his organisation’s policy work on sustainable agriculture and more recently has helped pioneer the concept of landscape scale conservation being instrumental in delivering England’s first ‘super’ National Nature Reserve; Purbeck Heaths.  He is also a trustee of Birds of Poole Harbour and Dorset Wildlife Trust.
